President Barack Obama is indeed a man for the history books. Not only is he the first African-American president but he will also be known as the first African-American president to be re-elected. The POTUS won his re-election by grasping wins in several key states which include Ohio, Virginia and Florida.
The campaign between the president and opposition, Mitt Romney, was a tough one and it indeed looked like a close call but at the end of the count, Obama surpassed the 270 delegates needed to secure the win when he raked in Ohio. At the end of the night Obama had 301 delegates while Romney had 203.
ABC News co-anchor, Diane Sawyer said as Barack Obama crossed the 270 margin needed: “A man who came in promising the audacity of hope four years ago will now have the chance to promise possibility, and a new chapter for the next four years.”
Romney has conceded and congratulated president Obama on his re-election but he says his principles still stands and calls on Americans to “rise to the occasion”. Mitt Romney who was governor of Massachusetts from 2003 – 2007, lost in the state to Barack Obama as well.
