Premium Times reports that President Muhammadu Buhari is set to depart from Abuja for Washington DC this Sunday on a four-day official visit that will include high-level talks with US president, Barack Obama and other senior officials. At the top of the talks’ agenda is discussing measures for strengthening bilateral and international co-operation against terrorism in the country, said Femi Adesina, his spokesman in a public statement. Buhari is scheduled to meet with Obama at the White House on Monday, July 20 along with further discussions later on in the day with the Chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, and the Deputy Secretary of Defence, Robert Work, on military and defence cooperation. Other highly ranked personalities he will meet with include Vice President Joe Biden, US Attorney-General, Loretta Lynch, the US Secretary of Treasury, Jack Lew, the US Secretary of Commerce, Penny Pritzker and the US Trade representative, Michael Froman. Additionally, President Buhari will be received by the United States Secretary of State, John Kerry, at the State Department in Washington DC, and will hold meetings with the United States Senate and Congressional Committees on Foreign Relations, and the Black Caucus of the United States House of Representatives. He will also address the United States Chamber of Commerce and Corporate Council for Africa before leaving Washington DC. The President’s accompanying party will include Governors of Imo, Nasarawa, Edo, Borno and Oyo States as well as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Permanent Secretaries of the Federal Ministries of Defence, Foreign Affairs, Industry, Trade and Investment.   Source: Premium Times
