Poem of the Week: Blown Out

Alas,
The dawning of stellar day
Lurid and long awaited
Like lyrics from another plain
Prior warnings that gladden
A soul heeding the elder’s pall

Reveries romantic
That only old age brings
Lessons of life and wounds
That time can singly heal

And so shortened
With self-fun and joy
Such time to muse
At life’s grand hog plot

Should I have loved more
And done this or that
Believed him or her
Timeless true thoughts
Denied, defied, un-lied
Seethed in contentment
That I learned life live
I often knew no better
Than all I did achieve

In strides of listless candle lights
Grappling with gentle breeze
So is the path of everyman
Brightly burnt and blown out in the wind
