  President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Melvin Pinnick, during a visit to the headquarters of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) in Abuja, expressed the federation’s commitment towards improving the standard of women’s football in Nigeria and assured the nation that efforts are being put in to ensure that the Nigeria women’s senior national team, the Super Falcons, becomes one of the best female football teams on earth.

Citing the recent appointment of high profile American coach, Rand Waldrum, to handle the team, Pinnick noted that the federation is willing to hand players who are based abroad and expressed willingness to feature for the eleven-time Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) champions, the chance to play for Nigeria and improve the team.
‘We have gotten a new coach for the senior women national team and there are new foreign-based Nigerian players who have declared their interest to play for the country. These are young and enterprising players that will help us prove that winning women AFCON is our birthright.’ Amaju Pinnick

In a bid to have the Super Falcons in top shape after a long break from national team duties due to COVID-19, Pinnick disclosed the federation’s plan for the team to play two friendly games in other to prepare them for upcoming important fixtures. Randy Waldrum who was handed the team after the exit of Thomas Dennerby, will have a great working atmosphere as the NFF appointed him assistants that are well-grounded in Nigerian football.
