Super Falcons forward, Perpetua Nkwocha made history on Friday when she came on for Desire Oparanozie against Australia in Winnipeg at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada to become the first female footballer to make 100 appearances for Nigeria. She also became the oldest player in the history of the Women’s World Cup at 39 years and 19 days surpassing the previous record of Meg (Brazil) who was 39 years 18 days when she featured at the 1995 finals in Sweden. Nkwocha made her debut for the Super Falcons back in May 1999 in a friendly against neighbours, Ghana’s Black Queens in Lagos. She is hoping to match Super Eagles’ captain, Vincent Enyeama’s record of 101 senior appearances when Nigeria takes on USA today in Vancouver. Nkwocha has also been named African Woman Player of the Year a record four times in her 16 successive years with the Super Falcons.
