The Osun State Government has launched a modern garment factory. The factory, ‘Omoluabi Garment’ which cost ₦1.2 billion, would be producing 50,000 uniforms per day at full capacity. Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Osun State Governor, explained at the commissioning that the garment factory will impact on economic growth as it will provide employment opportunities to unemployed people. “In an economy where no fewer than three thousand youths will be employed to work, that will surely boost the economy. The establishment of the factory would contribute to economic growth and also generate revenue for the state. We remain resolute in the implementation of our policy that will be of benefit to our people and improve our economy,” he said. Folake Oyemade, Managing Director of the new factory, explained that over five hundred youths are being trained presently to take charge of the factory’s operations. She added that the factory would have trained about three thousand youths by the end of 2013. “With the advent of this training programme, we are working toward reducing the rate of unemployment and improving the economy of the state,” Oyemade said.
