Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen, registered his first UEFA Champions League on the evening of Wednesday, October 2, 2019 against Chelsea FC of England.

The Nigerian got his first goal in the Europe’s elite club competition when his French club, Lille OSC, hosted Chelsea at home for their second group stage match in the competition. Lille manager Christopher Galtier has not lost faith in the tall Nigerian striker who has banged in six goals in the French Ligue 1 so far this season. Galtier’s decision to start Osimhen at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy contest, paid off as the West African rose high above Chelsea duo of Fikayo Tomori and Kurt Zouma to head home a Jonathan Bamba corner kick past Kepa Arrizabalaga in the 33rd minute of the match to hand Lille the equalizer and cancel out Tammy Abraham’s 22nd minute strike.

With twelve minutes left on the clock, Brazilian forward Willian struck to gift Chelsea the lead and hand the Blues victory over the French side.
