Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen, has been announced as the Player of the Season for his French Ligue One club, Lille OSC. Eye-catching displays from the former Wolfsburg of Germany star saw him clinch the 2019/2020 season prize in his first year in France. Osimhen who joined the Les Douges from Sporting Charleroi of Belgium last summer after standing out for the Belgian side with 19 goals to his name in the 2018/2019 season, has turned out to be subject of transfer rumours as he has been linked to top European sides for his exceptional displays for the French side.

Endeared to club fans for his scintilating performances, Osimhen scored 18 goals, and assisted six goals in 38 matches he featured across all competitions. His 13 league goals, left him fourth on the Ligue One highest goal scorers chart for the season which ended earlier than expected because of the coronavirus pandemic. Osimhen, 21, beat Portuguese star Renato Sanchez and French midfielder, Benjamin Andre to emerge winner of the prestigious club prize, his second since joining Christopher Galtier’s men after winning the Ligue 1 Player of the Month for October, 2019.
