The Super Falcons have never qualified for the semifinals of the World Cup before, but the recent achievements of the U-20 female team has instilled confidence in the Coach Edwin Okon tutored team. Speaking after landing in Toronto, Coach Okon said, “Our arrival is that of champions. We are ready and I look forward to the finals and getting the cup here in Canada.” The coach’s comment is not out of place given the current form of his players, especially the current Female African Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, who shone like a million stars in the last U-20 World Cup with the attacking pair of Desire Oparanozie and Francisca Ordega. The Super Falcons have been grouped with the USA, Sweden and Australia.         About the Writer: Okafor Obinna Martins coined ‘Obi martins’ by his friends, is a seasoned sport writer who blends his profession as a Maritime Navigator with creative writing.
