Super Falcons of Nigeria captain, Asisat Oshoala, has won the prize for the African Female Footballer of the Year for the fourth time in her illustrious career.
The Nigerian forward who plies her trade with FC Barcelona Femini of Spain beat Cameroonโs Ajara Nchout and Thembi Kgatlana of South Africa, who won the award last year, to claim the prize.

Oshoala, 25, won the award in 2014, 2016 and 2017, and also made the list of the top three nominees in 2018. The Super Falconโs emergence as the best in the continent did not come as a surprise as she has been in superlative from for both club and country, scoring in the final of the UEFA Womenโs Champions League in 2019, and playing a significant role in the second round of 16 finish of the Nigerian women national team at the 2019 FIFA Womenโs World Cup in France.

For the youth category, Achraf Hakimi of Morocco beat the Nigerian duo of Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen to be crowned the African Youth Player of the Year. Sadio Mane of Senegal beat his Liverpool teammate, Mohammed Salah of Egypt, and Algeriaโs Riyad Mahrez to become African Male Footballer of the Year for the first time in his career at the awards held at Cairo on Tuesday night (January 7, 2019).
