Nigerian starlet Onyekuru scored a brace in Anderlecht’s 4-3 away win against KV Mechelen in the Belgian top division on Friday to put the team in third place with 18 points just behind table-toppers Club Brugge. Onyekuru who is on loan from Everton was also very active and instrumental in helping the Purple and White take home their 1-0 win over Standard Liege in a Belgian First Division ‘A’ encounter on Sunday. He scored the only goal of the match to hand Nicolas Frutos’ men full win points. Pieter Gerkens, on Friday scored Anderlecht’s first goal against Mechelen in the 18th minute before Onyekuru doubled the lead in the 30th minute. Mechelen, not easily put down scored a goal through Rob Schoofs in the 34th minute. In the 30th minute, Anderlecht put in the third goal from Onyekuru to restore their solid lead and a minute before halftime Anderlecht were three goals ahead of Mechelen at 4-1 from Lukasz Teodorczyk’s goal. In the second half, Mechelen all-but leveled up the game scores as Nicklas Pedersen and Boureima Bande scored for Mechelen in the 60th and 92nd minutes respectively to bring the scores to a final 4-3 as Anderlecht. Onyekuru has scored six goals in nine league outings for Anderlecht since joining them on loan from Everton this season and he has since performed exceptionally well for the team.
