Ingressive is currently conducting a week-long Tour of Tech trip in Lagos. The initiative aims to connect African startup owners and business policymakers with US investors. According to its official website, the company’s primary objective is to “showcase the new generation of African innovators by guiding global resources to them”. On Thursday 24th September, 2015, the tour will hold its signature event themed In Pursuit of Progress and Preservation. It will provide a networking platform for African business leaders and the investors, as well as a discussion forum on the country’s culture and its position in the global economy. Major highlights of the tour include a tour of Generation Enterprise, an organisation which links Ivy MBAs with youths in slums to help startups. The investors will then meet with the following business leaders: Head of Deutsche Bank, Adeola Azeez; Civil Society Advisor to World Bank and Leader of Women’s Education in Nigeria, Yemisi Ransome-­Kuti and Founder, Terra Kulture and Former UN Human Rights Leader, Bolanle-Austen Peters.  An investor summit hosted by Lagos Angel Network and VC4Africa will also take place on the tour. Founder, Ingressive, Maya Horgan-Famodu aims to bring the benefits of Silicon Valley support to the continent. She had this to say, as cited in BusinessDay: “The world has turned to Africa, and we welcome those ready to mentor and commit capital. Nigeria and Kenya have two of the fastest growing tech hubs in the world, the fastest growing consumer classes, incredible opportunity but imagine if we had the resources of Silicon Valley: the access to working capital, the support network, the developed tech ecosystem.” Former Minister of Communications Technology, Omobola Johnson; Co-founder, Co­Creation Hub Nigeria, Tunji Eleso and other prominent individuals are expected to be in attendance.
