Former Green Eagles and Enugu Rangers International midfielder, Benjamin Okaro, has been named the new Technical Adviser of Nnewi United.
Okaro, who up until now had been based in the US, retutned to replace former manager, Anayo Offor, who himself joined the team after his predecessor Willy Udube, left the division for NPFL side, Go Round FC, Omoku, Rivers State.
The team’s new gaffer was unveiled at the club’s training base, Rojenny Stadium, Oba, Onitsha, by the Sporting Director, Olisa Onuchukwu.
According to Olisa, Okaro is the perfect man to help the team realize its dream of moving into the topflight Nigerian league.
As a seasoned coach, the former Green Eagles man has the technical know-how and the innate gifts the team needs to advance in the league.
For Okaro, work has begun in earnest, as the coach has now dropped five players following their morning training game against a local club.
“That you are dropped does not mean you are not good enough but just that we’ve got options since we cannot take all the players in same position.”
— Okaro
Okaro is set to test the players a lot more during the weekend, to determine who gets to stay or which players need a lot more work before they can rejoin Team A.
