The Finidi George led Peoples Elephant had suffered back to back defeats at the hands of Kano Pillars and Rivers United before earning a hard-fought win on Sunday courtesy of an 86th-minute tap-in from Godwin Emmanuel. Enyimba now has 9 points from five games.
The biggest result of the matchday 5 saw Sunshine Stars wallop Kano Pillars 3-0. Kamaru Adebari’s 68th-minute strike and Michael Olulasi’s brace in the 69th and 79th minute was all the home side needed to see off the former league champions.
