Plateau United returned to the top of the Nigerian Professional Football League table after a hard fought victory over Rivers United at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday, February 2, 2020. A third minute goal from former Enyimba forward, Ibrahim Mustapha, was all the Jos-based side needed to see off their fellow title contenders. Plateau United now sit top of the Nigerian league table with 32 points from 18 games.

At the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, the Sai Masu Gida (Kano Pillars) continued their impressive run of form with a 2-0 win against Adamawa United. Goals from Auwalu Ali and Achibi Ewenike were enough to put smiles on the faces of their home fans and ensure they moved from the 12th to 8th spot on the league table. Akwa United held their own to earn a vital point away from home after holding hosts, FC Ifeanyi Uba to a 0-0 draw in Nnewi. MFM were beaten away from home at the Kwara State Sports Complex, Ilorin, after Christopher Nwaeze’s goal from the spot in the 73rd minute was not equalized by the visitors as Kwara United cruised to victory.
