Enyimba who were without the duo of John Noble and Anayo Iwuala, both are on national duty with the Super Eagles, had a poor outing in the first-half despite the replacement of the missing stars with Olufemi Kayode and Orok Gabriel in the starting eleven. MFM showed more hunger in the game as it took the hosts just two minutes into the clash for Akani Elijah to fire straight at Kayode in the Peoples Elephant’s goal post. A well-curled freekick from Enyimba captain, Austine Oladapo, was a great response from the visitors, but Adeniyi Bamidele handled the ball well between the sticks.

A loose ball would meet Ebenezer well as he slotted the ball into the visitors net in the 22nd minute. Enyimba could have equalized immediately, but Cyril Olisema’s header was wide from point-blank range.
Ebenezer later tweeted:Ageless Ebenezer Odeyemi scored the only goal in the first half as @MFMFC_Lagos earned their first ever win over @EnyimbaFC

The Peoples Elephant dominated proceedings in the second half especially with the introduction of Tosin Omoyele and Samad Kadiri, but MFM was well disciplined to stop the Aba-based club. Ebenezer’s lone strike would go on to prove the difference between both sides. This is MFM’s first victory against the Aba based side in nine meetings, as Enyimba suffered their first defeat since the week two fixture of the NPFL 21 season.
