Nollywood- The growing and bubbling Nigerian movie industry, known as Nollywood, took a step forward in the international market with the production of the first French movie, titled Ecole Buissonniere. The Nigerian-French movie from Sandesco Productions is fully subtitled in English for non-French speaking people. According to Ekwem Sandra Ogechi who spoke during a press conference held in Abuja recently, the purpose is to create employment for the unemployed French graduates in the country, while bridging the gap between French students and the French audience. “We want people who are French-speaking to understand that what they have learnt so far in school is not a waste because many have studied and forgotten that they could also put the French they have learnt into practice because the government cannot create employment for everyone. “I love the French language; that is why I came up with this initiative. We have to justify what we read in university. “It is all about the introduction of the Nigerian-French theatre to Nigerians. We are looking at Nigerians who have studied French over the years who can produce their own movies,” she said.
