The Nokia 8110 4G was launched earlier this year and has just recently become available for purchase in Nigeria. It’s a low end, entry-level feature phone, a modern remake of the original Nokia 8110 released in 1996 as the first of Nokia’s high-end 8000 series of phones. The phone has a distinctive sliding cover which protects the keypad and can be extended to answer an incoming call or to expose the keypad.

The Nokia 8110 4G still retains the curved slider design that makes it appear like a banana (amazingly, it debuts in yellow).  Being a feature phone, you wouldn’t expect too much spec-wise. The phone comes with a 2.45-inch display, 1.1GHz dual-core Snapdragon 205 processor, 512MB of RAM (yikes!) and 4GB of internal storage and no SD card slot. A 2-megapixel primary camera sits behind the phone for pictures. The Nokia 8110 4G runs KAI OS and is powered by a 1500mAh removable battery. It uses dual SIM (Micro-SIM and Nano-SIM) with support for 4G. More connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, FM. Olumide Balogun, Head of Marketing, HMD Global West Africa praised the new device saying:
“With a familiar and easy to use interface, the Nokia 8110 4G features intuitive tactile mechanics, with slide to answer and end calls, as well as an addictive helicopter-style spin on its axis. It comes with the craftsmanship you expect from a Nokia phone, delivering durability and reliability as standard.”
You can install your favorite apps like Google Assistant, Maps, Facebook and Twitter, WhatsApp, send and receive emails, import contacts, sync your calendar with Outlook and Gmail, and much more. It also supports VoLTE calling. It comes in two catchy colors – Traditional Black and Banana Yellow, and features the revamped Snake game. The phone is available in stores for ₦24, 000
