On Thursday, Nintendo announced the release date of its next generation WII U. The company also introduced the Nintendo TVii. The free TVii is a TV and movie service that utilizes the handheld controller.
The president of Nintendo America said: “We’ve come here today not just to make news, but to give you a better sense for how Wii U will change the way you play games, how it will connect your gaming friends and how it will change the way you watch television. The agent of that change is the Wii U GamePad — a second screen that does not exist anywhere else.”
With the TVii, one can watch, stream and record shows and movies from YouTube, Netflix and Amazon.
The gamepad has a 6.2 inch touch screen, which can also be integrated with a TV screen. Games that are exclusive to the WII U include “Assassin’s Creed III”, ”Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2”, ”The Wonderful 101”, ”Bayonetta 2” and ”007 Legends”. At least 50 games will be available by March for the WII U.
The WII U will be released in the United States on November 18 with two configurations, the basic set which goes for $299 and a deluxe edition for $349
Nintendo is the world’s largest gaming company by revenue, and has sold 630 million gaming consoles since 1983.
