Udoka made history on the night of Wednesday, October 20, 2021, as he made his debut as an NBA Head Coach in the Celtics’ game against the New York Knicks. A 138-134 points defeat to the Knicks saw Udoka lose his first NBA game despite an impressive performance from Jaylen Brown who finished the night with a career-high 46 points, 9 REB, and 6 AST on 16/30 shooting. Udoka’s tactics brought out the best in Brown who just bounced back from COVID-19 to register the most points scored by a Celtics player in an opening game of the season.

Despite losing in the season opener at the Madison Square Garden, Udoka sounded confident about his team’s chances in the NBA.
