Nigeria defeated Senegal, the reigning champions in FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Championship by 54-58 points in their last Group B match of 2017 Afrobasket on Wednesday night in Bamako, Mali. The win signifies that Nigeria’s D’Tigress finished at the top of the group and will progress to the Quarter-finals with ease. The match was very crucial for basketball lovers. Nigeria’s D’Tigress has been very impressive since the commencement of the Women Afrobasket. While Nigeria won the first quarter, they continued to the second quarter confidently even though they were competing with gigantic champions. Senegal won the last match but too bad, D’ Tigress had won the score board. D’Tigress players had attributed this impressive performance in Mali due to welfare package provided for them by the new board of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF). Who says motivation doesn’t work? The players gave kudos to The Board as they interjected that nothing works better in motivating players for any big competition than the rapid payment of allowances and bonus despite ones willingness to serve their fatherland.
