Tom Adeyemi came on as a 70th minute substitute in Brentford’s shocking 2-all draw with holders, Chelsea, who are still without Nigeria duo, Mikel Obi and Victor Moses, since they are currently strutting their stuff at the African Cup of Nations. Reece Wabara played and scored a delightful back header in Oldham Athletic’s historic 3-2 win over last year’s finalist, Liverpool, at home.

Victor Anichebe played all 90 minutes in Everton’s 2-1 win over Bolton Wanderers at Reebok stadium. Former Super Eagles captain, Seyi Olofinjana squared against Kevin Etuhu’s Barnsley at home. Barnsley won the game 1-nil. Olofinjana came close to scoring a goal before making way for Simpson in the 60th minute.
