Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun has expressed his thoughts concerning his undecided future with German Bundesliga side Mainz.
The defender has been, without doubt, very effective in his position for the Super Eagles so far and is sure to be in action for Nigeria in the
Russia 2018 World Cup competition.
Nonetheless, Balogun is quite concerned about his club future, considering his age and the upcoming World Cup tournament; a decision is yet to be made as to where the player will move to next.
A good footballer
Balogun has been linked with German clubs like Werder Bremen, Fortuna Dusseldorf, Hannover 96 and SV Darmstadt 98.
The player told T Online:
“I want to have clarity in any case first. I am going to be thirty years old in the summer, so it would be presumptuous not to clarify my future before the tournament.”
If Balogun, who has only made 10 Bundesliga appearances this season, fails to secure a club placement before the tournament, a substandard performance from the Nigerian team may make it even harder for him to secure his future with a good club, despite his already outstanding characteristics on the pitch.
“I am already in talks with those responsible here in Mainz, and can definitely imagine staying,” Balogun added.
