Nigerians In Sports: Samuel Chukwueze Returns To Villareal Ahead Of New Season

Nigeria AFCON star, Samuel Chukwueze, has joined the rest of his Villareal clubmates in preparation for the 2019/2020 Spanish La Liga Season after helping the Super Eagles finish third at the recently concluded tournament in Egypt.

The prolific winger had his break extended due to his participation in the 2019 Nations Cup, where he scored one goal and thrilled fans with his skillful display and dribbles. Confirming his arrival on Monday, August 5, 2019, the yellow submarines left a message on their official twitter handle:

He’s here! Chukwueze. He has started today his special pre-season training programme at the training ground after playing the Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles. Great to have you back, Samuel.

Villareal CF

Villareal CF will play La Nucia in a game scheduled to hold on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 and the Nigerian fans’ favourite is expected to play an integral role in the pre-season tie.

Chukwueze, 20, scored eight goals in 38 appearances for the Spanish side last term to help the Javier Calleja managed side finish 14^th on the log. However, Calleja and his men will be looking to go beyond their level in the previous campaign and will open their league campaign on Saturday, August 17 when they confront newly promoted Granada.
