  Reigning African Women’s Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, is set to bag more award to her collection after being nominated by European football governing body, UEFA, for the 2020 UEFA Fans’ Team Of The Year. The four-time Africa Women’s Footballer of the Year who plies her trade with European football powerhouse, FC Barcelona Femeni made the cut for a list of 50 female footballers considered for the award by UEFA.

Oshoala who found the back of the net 20 times in 19 league games for FCB Femini during the 2019/2020 season has started this season on an impressive note, scoring twice in six league outings for the Spanish League champions. In an official statement on its website, UEFA revealed that the list of nominees was proposed by UEFA’s editorial team and will be validated by a panel of technical observers based on the performance of each footballer in UEFA and domestic competitions.

‘The nominees are proposed by the UEFA editorial team before being validated by the technical observer panel on the basis of their performances in UEFA competitions and domestic competitions within UEFA member associations from January to December 2020.
