  Super Eagles of Nigeria and Sparta Rotterdam of Holland goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has hailed former Nigerian goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama as the greatest Nigerian goalkeeper of all time. Okoye who is presently Gernot Rohr’s preferred choice in the Eagles’ sticks picked the former Lille of France shot-stopper over Peter Rufai.

‘I go with Enyeama as the greatest Nigerian goalkeeper because I watched more of his games, he belongs to my generation and he is one of the best from the African continent.’ Maduka Okoye
However, Maduka confessed that he did not watch much of Rufai but is aware of the fact that aside Rufai’s exploits with the national team at the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations and the 1994 World Cup, he was outstanding during his time at Holland with Go Ahead Eagles.

‘I know he was at the World Cup in 1994 and was the first Nigerian goalkeeper to play in the Dutch Eredivise with Go Ahead Eagles.’ Okoye
When quizzed on which coach he considers to be better between Gernot Rohr and Henk Fraser his Sparta Rotterdam coach, Okoye only had words of praises for both of them but hailed Rohr’s role in his development as a goalkeeper.
‘Both are great guys. I know Rohr a bit longer and will always be grateful to him for giving my career a big lift. I was in goal against Brazil in a friendly game and since then my stocks have risen.’ Okoye
