Ex-Nigerian international, Odion Ighalo, on Monday, February 17, 2020, made history as he became the 200th footballer to feature for Manchester United Football Club of England, and the first Nigerian to wear the colour of the Red Devils.

The 2019 AFCON highest goal scorer made his debut against West London side, Chelsea FC in the English Premier League on Monday. With Manchester United already ahead in the encounter with a two-goal lead, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer gave the Nigerian the opportunity of fulfilling his lifelong dream after bringing him on for Anthony Martial in the 90th minute at Stamford Bridge.

Ighalo who prior his move to China featured for Watford FC in England, made his return to the best league in the world in the winter transfer window after signing a six-month loan deal from his Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua. A three month injury suffered by Marcus Rashord meant the Manchester outfits needed to sign a replacement and the Nigerian was the best option for the English side, owing to his goal-scoring prowess which is evident in the Chinese league and during his time with the Nigerian national team before retiring from international duties, after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
