President of Nigeria’s Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick has noted that persuading Queen Park Rangers midfielder, Ebere Eze, to play for the Super Eagles will improve the Nigerian national team squad. Pinnick who held a private meeting with the midfielder in London last month hopes to convince Eze to play for Nigeria at the senior level rather than England.

Born in England to Nigerian parents, Eze has featured twice for the English U-21 national side but is still eligible to feature for Nigeria at the senior level. Pinnick sees Eze’s addition to the Eagles midfield (if he switches allegiance from England to Nigeria) as a big boost as plans are already underway for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

We need to make a solid representation at Qatar 2022 and it starts with improving on your squad with quality players like Eze…Can you imagine a midfield with Ndidi, Aribo, Etebo and Eze? it is one that will improve our squad…I had a positive meeting with Ebere Eze in London and I spoke to his parents as well. He requested for the chance to continue to focus on his club career which is going well so far, and that further progress will be made in due course. But I am confidently hopeful that he will play for Nigeria soon
