Akpoguma, 26, switched allegiance from his country of birth Germany to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, but he has found himself down the pecking order as coach Gernot Rohr preferred a Leon Balogun and William Troost-Ekong partnership at the heart of the defence for the three-time African champions. He has struggled to adapt to African football, a common problem for foreign-born players who switch allegiance to the Super Eagles. Akpoguma will be hoping to be part of the Super Eagles squad that will fly to Cameroun by January 2022 for the Africa Cup of Nations. Source: Complete Sports Featured Image Source: TSG Hoffenheim
