An invitation
The Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) has received an invitation from French counterparts be a part of a one-day test match featuring wrestlers from both countries duel it out on the mat on Thursday, December 20, 2018.
The Nigerian wrestling team gained world recognition after their remarkable performance at the just concluded 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.
The NWF are expected to select nine athletes; three in Freestyle, three in Greco Roman and three in the women’s category to slug it out with their French competition during the event.
Internship Arrangement
The Nigerian athletes will be in the city of Paris for a week, and will also partake in an internship arrangement, according to the letter sent by the organizers:
We are happy to invite you once again for a promotional event of an evening of wrestling. Your athletes will be able to share sports internship with our team from France at INSEP de Paris, and we invite you for a week at this Olympic establishment – the showcase of French sports.”
In the letter, the wrestling governing body of France also promised to take care of the logistics of the Nigerian delegation, which will comprise of 15 people (nine athletes, three coaches, two officials and a referee).
The one day event is billed to take place at the Cirque d’hiver in Paris.
