Nigerian wrestlers put in a great performance in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman style at the just concluded African Championships in Cairo, Egypt to finish with a total haul of 8 medals. In the Freestyle, Blessing Okorodudu (63kg) won her fifth straight African gold medal. Her efforts were matched by Odunayo Adekuoroye, a 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, in the 53kg category. Aminat Adeniyi (58kg) and Amas Daniel (86kg) came away with silver medals whilst Saso Tamara (86kg) and Ebikewenimi Welson (57kg) won bronze. In the Greco-Roman style, Nigeira could only win bronze through Emmanuel Nwori and Ituru Oke in the 75kg and 66kg classes respectively. Their performance has raised expectations of fans with the All Africa Games and the World.
