Ebere Paul Onuachu, a striker for Danish side, Midtjylland, has received his debut call to represent Nigeria in the senior category, in this months’s inconsequential Africa Cup of Nations  (AFCON) qualifier against Seychelles, and a friendly game against Egypt’s Pharaohs, in Asaba, Delta state.

Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr, initially named a 23-man list for both matches. However, the gaffer has made a few changes and released an updated list for the games this month.

Rohr dropped Leicester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, and has given 24-year-old, 6ft7inc, Onuachu, an opportunity to prove his worth to the team.

Winning Team

Flying Eagles’ defender, Valentine Ozornwafor (Enyimba), and U-17 World Cup winner, Victor Osimhen, have both also received maiden calls to join the senior team, and are expected to be in camp on March 18.

Skipper, Mikel Obi, will not be making an appearance for Nigeria is any of the matches.

Rohr also left out Villareal’s Samuel Chukwueze from the squad.

Other players who made the list include team regulars like, Leganes defender Kenneth Omeruo, Leon Balogun, Abdullahi Shehu, and William Troost-Ekong, as well as midfielders Oghenekaro Etebo, and Wilfred Ndidi.

Super Eagles forwards, Odion Ighalo, Alex Iwobi, and Moses Simon, are also on the list.

Nigeria will face Seychelles in their final AFCON group game, at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on March 22, before the team will take on Egypt’s Pharaohs in an international friendly game, four days later at the same venue.
