1. Electricity distribution companies in the country are enriching themselves corruptly through the issuance of estimated bills to consumers, according to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.
This is following complaints by consumers who decried the over 100 percent rise in their bills for the month of October, a development which was not commensurate with the actual supply of electricity.
2. President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday formally unveiled the new N100 centenary anniversary commemorative note at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The short ceremony, which was initially scheduled for last Wednesday, did not hold then because of the President’s journey to Burkina Faso.
Vice President Namadi Sambo and the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, joined the President to unveil the note during the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting.

In a bid to offer options to consumers of satellite broadcast services in the country, the National Broadcasting Commission on Wednesday issued an operating licence to a new operator, Chapters Digital Nigeria Limited. At a ceremony where the licence was presented, the Director-General, NBC, Mr. Emeka Mba, said the licence was being issued at a critical time when Nigeria was in transition from analogue to digital broadcasting in accordance with the directive of the International Telecommunications Union.

Used car dealers may soon begin to sell made-in-Nigeria vehicles as part of measures to incorporate them into the new automotive policy of the Federal Government. Already, the Tokunbo or used car dealers are holding talks with the National Automotive Council, an agency of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, on the modalities of their participation in the policy.
5. Nigerian-owned airlines realised N73bn from ticket sales in 2013, while international counterparts operating in the country made over N231bn in the same period.

–commerce portal to bring Africa’s economies online.
By integrating with mobile network operators (MNOs), the portal enables Africans to use their mobile wallets to buy from global internet brands, access free educational content and use Microsoft software. Accordingly, the e-commerce portal is expected to bring thousands of online merchants to the African digital consumer, via an affordable and transparent online payment system. Announced at the 17th annual AfricaCom conference, the portal would be fully live by December 2014.
9. Super Eagles head coach Stephen Keshi has shrugged off the issue surrounding his contract extension with the country’s football federation,
NFF, saying his “destiny” is not tied to the Super Eagles job. The 52-year-old coach is yet to be offered a new contract since his first deal with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) elapsed after the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

About 100 houses have been burnt in Soro town in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, following the outbreak of a mysterious fire. Acting District Head of Soro, Alhaji Muhammad Kilishi, who disclosed this in an interview, said residents in the local government were yet to know the cause of the fire.
