General Electric has sent the first batch out of the 15 newly- recruited technicians and engineers to Brazil for training in the assembling and test of subsea equipment. The young Nigerians, most of whom are just fresh from school departed Nigeria over the weekend for the one-month training.

The social media awards are Africa’s premier awards for social and digital media with nominations spanning four categories and drawn from across the continent. Nigeria will license seven infrastructure companies within the next few weeks as the country moves to an open access policy for broadband networks. Under proposed access policies, incumbent carriers have to allow competitors to lease capacity on their networks and offer their own services.

mobile insurance application that enables customers to take charge of their insurance transactions from start to finish on their internet enabled device such as phones, iPad and computers.

The West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAGPCo) has opened its pipeline to be accessed by independent gas shippers to maximise the potential of the facility, which is said to have been underused over the years. Its General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Harriet Wereko-Brobby, said the management decided to open the facility so that there should be additional gas to fill it.

First Bank Nigeria Plc is to finance the multi-billion fabrication and construction yard of Kaztec Engineering Limited, a subsidiary of Chrome Group. The project is located at the Snake Island, Lagos.
10. On Monday,
the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) announced its commitment to provide leadership in establishing private refineries. Mr. Chinedu Okoronkwo, IPMAN National President, said in Lagos that the association had acquired more than 1,000 hectares in Kogi and Bayelsa for the proposed three billion dollars (N495 billion) refineries.
