1. The Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office on Monday said  six foreign mining companies and Dangote Group of Companies would commence mining of gold, iron ore, coal,  lead and zinc in 2015. 2. The rehabilitation of the 100 targeted roads in Ondo State as initiated by the Governor OlusegunMimiko-led administration started last Monday, simultaneously in the three senatorial districts of the state. It is the first phase of the project tagged Ondo State Rehabilitation Programme, with the massive road repair works being handled by the Ondo State Asphalt Company (OSAC). 3. The Minister of State for Power, Mohammed Wakil, has said the federal government has upgraded Nigeria’s electricity transmission capacity by an additional 40 per cent growth ratio within the last couple of years. 4. Speaking in Abuja, NITDA’s DG, Peter Jack, while giving hints of the Agency’s focus for 2015 stated that the NITDA Act mandates it to proactively assist Nigerian governments, agencies and companies to improve their processes and product quality, adding that this has been its focus through its initiatives of trainings and re-training programmes, which many Nigerians have benefitted from. 5. The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, has revealed that the Federal Government has concluded arrangements to facilitate the provision of over one million meters to the electricity consumers in its determination to address the issue of estimated billing by the electricity distribution companies, Discos. 6. The Industrial Training Fund (ITF), in partnership with United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) has commenced a National Industrial Skills gap assessment survey to identify the mismatch between the skills of available workers and skills demand in the industrial sector. 7.The Federal Government, Monday, unveiled plans to continually review tariffs and waiver granting as part of efforts to encourage local content development as well as improve capacity utilization of manufacturing companies in the country. 8. FMC Technologies, Inc. has clinched the contract for provision of subsea systems for Chevron’s Agbami phase 3 project. The company said it received an order from Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited (a Chevron company), operator of the Agbami field, to provide subsea equipment for operations in the Agbami field, offshore Nigeria. 9. The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and IASeminars are to jointly offer training courses covering a broad range of financial topics of interest to both private and public sectors. In a statement, it said courses to be offered both in Nigeria and abroad are International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). 10.The total value of mutual funds investment rose by N23.67bn or 15.7 per cent at the end of 2014. At the end of trading in 2013, the value of investment in mutual funds, also known as Collective Investment Scheme, closed at N153.83bn.
