1.The Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, CIS, has announced that it is targeting the entertainment industry as a means to boosting the Nigerian capital market and economy. According to The Chairman of the CIS Programme Committee, Mr. Akeem Oyewale, “Capital Market is a market which provides long term funding for the entire economy and we believe the entertainment industry is yet to benefit from the capital market.”
2. Indigenous aviation company, Caverton Helicopters, has trained 15 Nigerians as engineers, type-rated in the modern helicopter, AW139. He spoke following the bank’s deal with Ixaris and its Nigerian partner “Ojapay” meant to deploy a virtual card platform across its 20 African markets. 5.Smile Communications Limited has launched its broadband internet services in Port Harcourt. 6.Sterling Bank Plc has unveiled a new mobile banking solution known as “One Bank”, to facilitate new account openings, increase mobile money acceptance, use and adoption and deepen brand awareness and customer relationship.7.The first Women Microfinance Bank (WMfB) will make its debut soon, Mrs. Tinuola Thompson-Ajayi, President of the Association of Professional Women Bankers (APWB), said while announcing plans to hold its 2014 annual dinner. She stated that the women bank would further enhance women’s access to finance and the drive for financial inclusion, encouraging investment.

United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, one of Africa’s leading banks, last Friday announced gross earnings of N211 billion for the nine months ended September 30, 2014, showing an increase of 12 per cent above the N188 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2013.9.The Women in Management, Business and Public Service, WIMBIZ, is set to hold its 13th annual conference aimed at examining the possibilities and opportunities in Nigeria while providing insights on the roles of citizens, particularly women, in achieving the identified prospects.
