25 developing and emerging countries of the world seen to be accounting for 78 per cent of global Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The Federal Government has intensified moves to tripple the nation’s domestic gas supply to aid industrialisation and meet the power sector needs by the year 2020. “We are moving very aggressively into gas for industrialization purposes. At the same time we have to work very critically on our gas-to-power needs,” the Minister for Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, was quoted as saying.

(NBET) have recently signed an agreement affirming the former as payment management service provider to the bulk trader. Chief Executive, Stanbic IBTC, Mr. Yinka Sanni emphasised the bank’s long term commitment to servicing the efficiency and transparency initiative from NBET.

Niger Delta Exploration & Production Plc plans to raise $450 million to acquire and develop crude fields in the country. The Lagos based firm is planning a “public offer, or special placement of shares. The first tranche of $200 million will be raised before the end of 2014,” Chief Executive Officer, Layi Fatona told Bloomberg.

Microsoft Nigeria has partnered with the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON), in a move designed to foster the growth of the software ecosystem. Speaking during the presentation of the certificate of membership to Microsoft Nigeria along with ISPON President, Mr. Pius Okigbo, Jr. reiterated the resolve of ISPON to build indigenous capacity by bolstering software local content, reports The Nation.

8. According to THISDAY, President Goodluck Jonathan has named
Captain Muktar Usman as the Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). He also appointed Justice Chima Nweze as a justice of the Supreme Court and Dr. Jonah Madugu as a member of Federal Civil Service Commission.
9. A survey conducted by Nigeria’s social innovation centre, Co-creation Hub (CcHUB) has gathered that the WhatsApp messaging app recently acquired by Facebook Inc. seems to have
become the preferred social media application among Nigerian professionals. The survey which was conducted to determine what Nigerian professionals do with their mobile phones and released last week, showed that of the 1, 552 professionals surveyed, 489 representing 31.5 percent, rely on the messaging app for their social media engagements.
