African economies, including Nigeria’s, have continued to expand at a moderately rapid pace, with regional gross domestic product (GDP) projected to strengthen to 5.2 per cent yearly between 2015 and 2016 from 4.6 per cent in 2014.

Nigeria’s active internet users currently stand at over 48 million, Dr. Peter Jack, the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has stated. A statement issued by NITDA’s Head of Public Affairs, Mrs. Hadiza Umar in Abuja on Tuesday, stated that Jack made the assertion in a speech at the global media meet in Dubai. The meeting was preparatory to the Global Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) Week 2014.

Global technology firm, Oracle Corporation, has expanded its portfolio of cloud based technology solutions with six platform services. The firm, which made the announcement at the just concluded Oracle World 2014 at San Francisco, USA, said the cloud platform enables customers and partners to easily build new applications, extend Oracle software as a service (SaaS) applications, and migrate existing on-premises applications to the cloud.

Poultry farmers in Osun State have made about N260 million profit in the last one year. Speaking with reporters in Osogbo, the state capital, the Chairman, Tuns Farms Ltd, Alhaji Kahmis Olatunde Badmus, said no agricultural project in the country has ever had such a record of success.

Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, has disclosed that the Federal Government has launched a Planting with Peace Programme where 15 million farmers will get access to crop insurance.
