The Federal Government has disclosed plans to issue five to 10-year visas to foreign investors seeking to do business in Nigeria. Mr. Edem Duke, Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, made this disclosure recently in Lagos.
The minister explained that the decision is borne out of FG’s objective to improve the economy via foreign direct investment (FDI). “The Federal Government is willing to ease franchise opportunities with business owners from the U.S. And this will be of benefit to us all. “The Federal Government is going to ease whatever encumbrances these companies may encounter in developing their markets in Nigeria. “And one sure way the government is looking at is to give five to 10-year visas to would-be investors”, he said.
Mr. Duke noted that efforts were being made to improve the security situation and energy supply in Nigeria so as to make it an attractive market for foreign investors. He added that the FG is working towards ensuring that all the states of the federation are involved in terms of FDI so as to engender even development nationwide. “As we all know, Nigeria is today one of the world’s investment destinations. So, government will continue to also create platforms for the engagement of investors across the 36 states”, he said.
