The first e-health summit in Nigeria aimed at improving delivery of healthcare services is to hold on September 12, 2013.
The event, which is organised by Health technology firm, Aajimatics and its partners Global Health Project & Resources and the Anadach Group, is will be held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, with the theme: “Understanding Current E-Health Ecosystem in Nigeria and the Role of the Private Sector in Harnessing Potential Opportunities to improve health for all Nigerians.”
Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, Minister of Health, and Omobola Johnson, Minister of Communications Technology, and commissioners for health from Lagos, Osun, and Oyo states are expected to be present at the event.
According to organizers, topics to be discussed include, “International Experience on E-health Policy Development and role of private sector; Current State of Play: E-Health in Nigeria – Different Perspectives; Opportunities and Challenges for the Private Health Sector; Expanding health insurance coverage: Leveraging IT in the NHIS.”
Adekunle Ajiboye, Chief Executive Officer of Aajimatics, said, “The essence of the summit is to develop and maintain a spirit of cooperation and communication among healthcare professionals and institutions, with the primary goal of improving healthcare practices in medical standards and patient care by promoting excellence, professional ethical behaviour through the creation of comprehensive environments that support organizations in the continuous investments.”
