Sunday Mba proved to be Ivory Coast’s nemesis once again after he scored two goals and set up another two to give Nigeria a 4-1 win over their West African neighbours.
The match was played at Ahmadu Bello stadium in Kaduna.
Kano Pillars striker, Gambo Mohammed opened the scoring in the 14th minute after he was put through by Mba.
Mba doubled the lead with a fierce shot from outside the box in the 28th minute.
Coulibally Fousseny reduced the deficit, capitalising on a horrid clearance by the Eagles defence to shoot past Chigozie Agbim in Nigerian goal.
Things went from bad to worse for the Ivorians when Asale Rodger was sent off for handling the ball in the area. Mba stepped up and made no mistake from the spot to make it three.
Ivorians were reduced to nine when Baresi Gloudeou was also given his marching orders for elbowing Mba.
Ifeanyi Ede rounded off the scoring in the 83rd minute.
