The leadership of Nigeria’s football ruling body, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has reiterated its commitment towards the completion of the NFF/Zenith Bank Future Eagles Championship, despite the suspension of all football related activities in the country due to the corona virus pandemic. After a video conference meeting held over the weekend, the Executive Committee of the federation noted that the competition which involves the U-13 and U-15 will be completed once the suspension on football activities are lifted.

In a communiqué released after the online meeting which was presided over by the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, the board noted that since the States’ finals of the championship is already concluded, efforts will be made towards seeing to the end of the junior tournament.
The NFF/Zenith Bank Future Eagles Championship, which State competitions have already been concluded (with some zones having also completed their competitions) will run its full course immediately after the COVID-19 and resumption of football activities.

With appreciation to partners and sponsors which includes Zenith Bank, the NFF plans on meeting with them to discuss plans on how to see to the successful completion of the tournament. Commenting on the development, the Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank, Ebenezer Onyeagwu noted that the bank was committed to the development of football in Nigeria and sports generally, especially at the grassroots level.
