The Nigerian Football Federation and the Super Eagles have settled their bonus rift and a pacified Eagles team will face Tahiti today in their opening fixture at the on-going Confederations Cup in Brazil.
The players were angry over unpaid bonus money promised to them after they beat Kenya 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier last week.
The players wanted to be paid £6,370 ($10,000) but the cash-strapped Nigeria Football Foundation, which has been forced to cut back on backroom staff of the various national teams, refused.
The Nigerian players were then offered a bonus £1,590 ($2,500) following their 1-1 draw in Namibia in another World Cup qualifier on Wednesday, but the players wanted more.
The row was finally put to bed by the Sports minister, Bolaji Abdullahi.
The Super Eagles team had threatened to boycott the event, refusing to leave Namibia after their World Cup qualifier last Wednesday.
The team left Namibia on Saturday and landed in Brasil on Sunday via South Africa.
Nigeria will take on Tahiti today by 8pm, Uruguay on Thursday and Spain on Sunday.
Super Eagles Group Schedule:
17 June – Tahiti v Nigeria
20 June – Spain v Tahiti, Nigeria v Uruguay
23 June – Nigeria v Spain, Uruguay v Tahiti
