New York and Toronto will be hosting the next two editions of the
Nollywood Travel Film Festival (NTFF).
The festival will be held in Toronto for the second time, the first being in September 2017.
NTFF
NTFF, Nigeria’s biggest and first ever travel film festival, takes the screenings of Nollywood films to
prominent cities around the world. Atlanta, Georgia and Hamburg, Germany have played hosts to the festival already this year with massive success.
NTFF’s founder,
Mykel Parish, said in an interview in Abuja on Wednesday:
“We are gearing up for the 2018 edition in these two lovely cities. There will be lots of interesting conversations on ways to improve the standard of Nollywood and expose its products to bigger audiences.
“NTFF is an initiative that seeks to promote films by Nigerians living all over the world to new and existing global audiences with the aim of creating new marketplaces for Nigerian cinema. So much fun and excitement is coming to New York and Toronto and we are excited to share the Nollywood journey with the world.”
Parish described the NTFF as “film tourism”aimed at changing the African narrative through
film and fostering relationships with better-developed countries.
The next two editions will hold from
9th to 13th October at the University of Toronto, and from
17th to 20th October in New York. They are expected to feature conversations around the challenges experienced in filmmaking in the modern-day, as well as the screenings and award ceremonies.
