A new technology has been developed by CGV cinemas in South Korea to let people see 270 degrees movie – or a movie on the main screen and on the two side walls. The ultra-wide technology, according to reports, provides a panoramic experience, but demands that film-makers take the two new ‘screens’ into account when shooting their movies.
A new South Korean movie,
The X, has been shot to launch the technology. The movie is a 30-minute spy thriller to be premiered at the Busan International Film Festival. For the Screen X technology, the two side walls need to be painted gray and will cost around $140,000 – $185,000 to set up. Forty Screen X screens has however been set up in 22 CGV cinemas.
