Connect Nigeria Following the kick-off of the cashless policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, on July 1, the National Orientation Agency, NOA, has urged Nigerians to embrace the policy. Mr. Isaac Onukwube, the Enugu State Director of the agency who stated this said the policy would reduce fraud while speaking with newsmen at a press conference. “It will also reduce the level of corruption in the country to a large extent. Besides, it will make people stop carrying heavy cash about,’’ he said. The director, however, expressed the fear that the implementation would be hindered due to a lack of adequate sensitisation of the people. “My fear is that many people are not aware of the policy and this will affect its implementation. “It would have been better if the citizens were given enough sensitisation on what the policy is all about before its commencement nationwide. “As it is, it appears that the CBN is busy rolling out the policies without engaging the people who are the end users of the policies,” Onukwube said. He said that the agency would do all it could within its meagre resources to educate the masses on the importance of the policy.
