Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), via the Secretary-General James Eakyns, has announced that the 2nd edition of the Katsina Golden Star National Badminton Championships will kick off on the 28th of August as all prospective participants are implored to register before the 14th of the month.
The competition will begin with a pre-tournament meeting with the team managers at the Golden Star Badminton Club conference room on August 28th. The tournament is scheduled to run till the 1st of September when the finals will be played.
According to Eakyns, the players will compete for laurels in the Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles, and no player will be allowed to play more than two events, while also reiterating that late entries will not be regarded.
“A total of N2.6 million has been set aside as prize money for the top 16 and top eight players in the competition. According to the schedule of play, qualifying rounds/round of 32 main draws will take place on 28th August, round 32 and 16 matches will hold in all the categories on the 29th August. The quarter-finals and semi-finals are slated for 30th and 31st August, while the final comes up on 1st September,” said Mr Eakyns.
Accommodation arrangements will be made for all accredited players who will be participating in the 4-day tournament.
