Unified heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua maintains an assured demeanor as his fight with mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin draws close.
Joshua will stake his WBA Super, IBF, WBO and IBO belts against Russian strongman, Povetkin on September 22nd.
In the face of potential mega-bouts against his heavyweight rivals – Deontay Wilder and fellow Briton, Tyson Fury – Joshua has resolved to set his mind on where his belts will be in the coming weeks.
“Povetkin is a massive threat because he wants to be in the position that I’m in.”
— Joshua (Sky Sports News).
The 28-year-old believes he has proved himself already in the ring to his division, however his opponent will not be an easy mark to take down:
“Povetkin is a real game challenger. It will be a good fight, it’s not going to be a quick one.We can both take a lot of punishment and dish out a lot of punishment and it’s the first one to go.
“I’m at that stage where I do want to look past Povetkin because the division is alight, it’s amazing, there’s some real good challenges out there.”
— Joshua
The Joshua Vs Povetkin fight will be staged at Wembley stadium, London, where Joshua retired Wladimir Klitschko in April 2017.
