Nigerians were delighted when MTN introduced DSTV Mobile via Nokia 5330, circa 2008. The phone was offered at a certain prize coming with 10 DSTV channels for free for some months. The phone and the offer are still available, but MTN has decided to extend it to other smartphones since interested users will not dump their phones for a — TV — feature. MTN has now announced that it will make a Mobile TV feature available for all smart phones, for live TV and more. Speaking at an event that announced it, the Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer, MTN Nigeria, Larry Annetts, said, “All our customers need to do to enjoy this service is to activate the WAP browser on their mobile handsets and devices; they can either access MTN Mobile TV packages via the MTN Play Portal, or by typing in the address of the Mobile TV portal http://www.mtnonline.com/imoovtv and they are good to go.”
