Former Nigerian international, Victor Moses, has witnessed firsthand, the dedication and resilience of fans of his new team, Fenerbahce.
Moses was given a very warm welcome to the Turkish league by Fenerbahce fans, in his debut game against Yeni Malatyaspor in a Turkish Super Lig fixture.
The former Super Eagles forward was introduced into the game as a 66th-minute substitute for Algeria’s Yassine Benzia at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium on Monday night.
Mehmet Ekic opened scoring for Fenerbahce in the second minute with a beautiful assist from M. Isla. However, in the 28th minute, Yeni Malatyaspor’s Arturo Mina, set the game back to level.
Within another three minutes, Mehmet Ekic completed his brace to return Fenerbahce to the lead. Four minutes after the restart, Yeni’s Mitchell Donald, brought his side back into the game with an impressive effort assisted by A. Mina.
In the 86th minute, Mehmet Topal, scored Fenerbahce’s third goal of the game, handing the Yellow Canaries their fourth league win this season.
Speaking after the game, the former Nigerian international expressed his joy at the great welcome he received and the alluring atmosphere set by Fenerbahce’s fans.
“I had heard a lot about Fenerbahce fans, but it was really amazing to see them with my own eyes this evening,”
Moses is looking to make more impact for the team when they host Goztepe for their next league fixture on Friday.
